It is with great honour that I take on the position of Chairperson of Castlebar Tennis Club and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Lyons and the outgoing committee for the work and commitment that they put in over the last 2 years.
I would like to congratulate Ann Garavan on her re- election as President of Castlebar Tennis Club and I am delighted to have two hardworking and committed Captains to work with in Pat Conlon and Pauline O Donohue for the coming year.
A thank you also needs to go to my new committee, who have voluntarily given up their time to help run this great club on behalf of you the members.
My aim for my term of Chairperson of Castlebar Tennis Club is to promote, and to increase participation levels both at senior and junior levels within the club. We have an unrivalled facility here in Lough Lanagh and a proven track record at junior levels and it is my ambition to see the courts in constant use by all members. Castlebar Tennis club is renowned for its warm welcome and we must all use this to the clubs advantage by encouraging new members to take part in the extensive list of tennis events planned for the year ahead by our Director of Tennis Garret Barry.
The achievements of any club are the combined efforts of the members and we must come together as members of this great club to provide for its future. “Working together is the way to win”.

May we begin by thanking last year’s Captains, John & Teresa, for their encouragement and good wishes for the year ahead, and to congratulate them on a successful year in 2011.
This is our third year in the new centre for the club and we are very proud of our
facilities. As captains we are very aware of the hard work and dedication that went
in to make this happen.
2012 will be a very busy year with club competitions, interclub competitions, new member recruitment drives and fund raising for the club at the forefront of our tasks. We wish to encourage all members to participate in as many competitions as they can during the year and where possible, play some inter club competitions. The club is actively seeking new members and we would appeal to you, the members of the club, to suggest the new member nights to friends, work colleagues and acquaintances. We would also encourage you to encourage past members to rejoin the club and avail of its new facilities.
We would like to say a big thank you to all our sponsors for their generosity, as without their support competitive and social tennis would not be possible. In these most challenging economic times our sponsors have once again come up trumps for us and we would encourage you all to support them whenever possible. We will ensure that their sponsorship is advertised at the club throughout the year.
As Captains our single most important objective for the year is to ensure that you the member get every opportunity to enjoy playing either friendly or competitive tennis.
For 2012 we wish you the very best for your tennis and look forward to seeing you on court or in the clubhouse.
Pat Conlon and Pauline O’Donohue

Tennis is rapidly growing in popularity worldwide thanks to initiatives such as ‘Play and Stay’ which sees the use of modified equipment which in turn makes the game fun and easy to learn for everyone. Improving your game is not just for the high performance player but also helps the recreational player reach their potential and enjoy the game even more. We look forward to helping all our members learn and play better tennis in 2011. Coaching is provided all year round and is open to all ages and standards.
I will keep you update with the latest news via short text-based messages called
tweets. My Tweets can be viewed on the right hand side of this page, simply "Join
the convesation". I hope you enjoy our Tennis Programme for 2011.
